ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is figurative. It is intended to reveal both physical space and mental places. It deals with the complexities of thoughts, ideas, feelings, and emotions that get compartmentalized. The images I create use lines and shapes to symbolize containers our bodies are placed in, from conception to eternity. There is a hint at the landscape to ground the figure in a picture plane. My paintings are mixed media, using embedded paper, drawings, and acrylic paint. The sculptures are resin and bronze with the originals created in wax or clay. My work has a symbiotic relationship; the paintings influence the sculptures as the sculptures direct the paintings.
